It is no surprise that we have been experiencing more serious threats to public health in recent years. Take for instance, the haze and influenza pandemic. Such threats have a direct impact on public health and GPs, as healthcare professionals, have been at the forefront to help manage such risks effectively.
The Ministry is thus consolidating the existing Pandemic Preparedness Clinic (PPC) scheme and Haze Subsidy Scheme into a new programme: Public Health Preparedness Clinic (PHPC). Clinics who participate in this new scheme can receive targeted support from MOH when it comes to managing public health risks.
Participating clinics under PHPC will be responsible for dispensing medication and administering vaccination from the national stockpile, providing subsidized treatment where available. In addition, MOH will ensure that participating clinics receive adequate protection as well as support in logistics and training.
More details about the scheme will be made available in the coming months. Stay tuned.
