5th Pelvic Ultrasound Workshop

This workshop aims to equip participants with knowledge on pregnancy and related issues, from the perspective of diagnostic ultrasound. During the interactive hands-on session, participants will be able to hone their skills in pelvic ultrasound with the aid of phantoms, simulators and actual volunteers.
The optional one-day observational attachment (valid from 9 November 2019 to 31 January 2020) will give participants a chance to experience various gynaecological cases in a busy women’s imaging department.

Learning Outcomes:
  1. To understand the sonographic anatomy of the female pelvis; cyclical changes in the ovaries and pitfalls of pelvic imaging.
  2. To be able to recognise the sonographic features of a normal viable pregnancy and abnormal non-viable pregnancy.
  3. To understand the differences in ultrasound features between benign and malignant pelvic masses.
  4. To be aware of proper reprocessing of endocavity probe.
  5. To perform transabdominal and transvaginal scans to visualise the uterus, ovaries and adnexal regions and identify commonly seen gynaecological pathologies.
